With one-off interactive cinematic experiences and classic films in our town centre, Eastleigh Film Festival puts the excitement back into the movies.

Thursday 28th September 2017
The Point ,
Leigh Road, Eastleigh, S050 9DE

Director: Emile Ardolino
Certificate: 12
Running time: 98 minutes

In this classic romantic drama, 18 year old Baby comes of age on a whirlwind holiday to the Catskills mountains when she meets a carefree group of dancers who change her perception on life. Among the crowd is Johnny Castle, a dance instructor whose free spirit inspires her to break free of her upper-class upbringing.

Why we love it:

Nobody puts Baby in the corner. Emile Ardolino's dance flick was a sleeper hit upon release but swiftly became a favourite amongst critics and audiences as word of mouth grew about the epic romance that unfolds over 98 minutes of pure, indulgent cinema. We laugh, we cry, we believe in love again - it's all wonderful, really.

Patrick Swayze is iconic as Johnny Castle, sweeping Jennifer Grey's Baby off her feet and into an array of faultlessly choreographed dance sequences, while the 60's inspired soundtrack transports you to another time. The remote holiday resort setting is inspired and the portrayal of first-time love is cinematic romance at its finest.

The Point is a regional powerhouse for the arts, and we are delighted to be combining the venue's passion of dance with our love of film by screening Dirty Dancing at this year's festival. Bring your dancing shoes and prepare to join in.
